It’s not as though Dee Oldham wasn’t going to play for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s basketball team this season. The question was when.
That was answered when the NCAA cleared him a week before the Mocs’ exhibition opener against Covenant, nearly 10 months since his transfer from UT-Martin.
With that now behind him, the guard can just play and contribute – and he’s doing well.
The senior is averaging 5.1 points and 4.1 rebounds in only 14.4 minutes a game for the 9-2 Mocs, who will host dangerous Radford (7-5) this afternoon at 3 at McKenzie Arena. The Highlanders boast road victories over Penn State and Georgetown, so they won’t be intimidated in Chattanooga today.
Oldham has provided contributions in basically every category this season – with nine points on three occasions, including the season-opening win at Georgia, and five big points in the comeback victory against Kennesaw State last Friday – but he really has been strong in rebounding. He has grabbed at least five rebounds in five games, with a season-high seven against Hiwassee on Nov. 16.
