Wilbur returns to coach at Howard

Howard School has named Ashley Wilbur as it new girls’ high school basketball coach. Wilbur, a former Howard player, returned to her alma mater immediately after graduating from Fisk University in 2008 to teach freshman English.

“Ashley has charisma and is very good working with kids,” Howard principal Dr. Paul Smith said. “She has been a staple in the community since returning from college. She could have gone to any other school but her heart is here and that shows dedication to the community.

“She’s already making a difference in the halls of the school.”

Wilbur takes over for Dexter Bell, who coached the Lady Hustlin’ Tigers for one season.
