State Constitution needs cleaning up
For citizens who believe the words in the Constitution are important and sacred, I would suggest we clean up parts of the Constitution of the State of Tennessee.
Reference: Article IX Section 1 — “no minister of the Gospel, or priest of any denomination whatever, shall be eligible to a seat in either House of the Legislature.” Also, Article IX Section 2 — “No person who denies the being of God, or a future state of rewards and punishments, shall hold any office in the civil department of this state.”
I suspect the above sections have been violated numerous times since the Constitution was adopted in 1870.
