Nestled between Pigeon and Lookout mountains, Mountain Cove Farms has been a haven for wealthy farmers and business owners. Walker County bought much of the property two years ago, and now the public can enjoy the rural tranquility for vacations, event rentals or just a light lunch.
Cindy and Steve Caheely, owners of Ivy Cottage Restaurant and Catering in LaFayette, Ga., leased the general store from the county and reopened it. They’ve also refurbished a large house and several small cottages for short-term rentals.
Visitors to the farm and store may feel they’ve stepped back in time.
