ASK A DIETITIAN

Q: I’m trying to quit smoking, but I’m worried that it will cause me to gain weight. Is this a myth?

A: People tend to gain weight when they quit smo-king be-cause they replace the “hand-to-mouth” action from cigarettes to food. If this is kept under control, it shouldn’t be a problem. Try to replace a bad habit with a good habit, like exercise.
