It’s still February, but Mother Nature’s bound and determined to toss a little spring across the tri-state region for the next few days.

No temperature records were broken Monday with a few showers and a high in the upper 60s and lower 70s, but new record highs could be set Tuesday and Wednesday with the mercury edging into the upper 70s, WRCB meteorologist David Karnes said Monday.

“The average high is 56 degrees, and that is where we’ll start the day,” Karnes said of Tuesday. “And it’s going to keep warming up. The record is 78 degrees [in 1986] and I’m forecasting a record high.”

Temperatures could reach a new record high of around 77 on Wednesday, too. The record for Wednesday is 74, set in 1922, Karnes said.
