An East Ridge Marriott hotel won a companywide award for its community service initiatives, beating out hundreds of others across the country.
Staff at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Chattanooga South/East Ridge helped build a home for a disabled woman through Habitat for Humanity, raised breast cancer research money in the Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure and took part in a worldwide soap recycling project throughout 2011.
Their efforts earned them Marriott’s Bruce Reed Rally to Serve award.
“Anyone can write a check” said Bob Dollinger, vice president of operations at 3H Group Hotels, which owns the hotel. “But volunteering is much more rewarding.”
The hotel received the award March 15.
