A joint investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Meigs County Sheriff’s Department, and the 9th Judicial District Attorney General’s Office has resulted in the arrest of a Decatur, Tennessee, man on a homicide charge.
Randall Dewey Burnette Jr., 41, an acquaintance of the victim, Michael Lee Joyner, 40, was charged Tuesday with one count of second-degree murder and booked into the Meigs County Jail on a $5 million bond, according to a news release from the TBI.
Joyner was found dead on Dec. 15 at a home on Warren Lane in Decatur, and investigators initially believed he had died from a gunshot wound. An autopsy later determined the cause of death to be a stab wound.
During the course of their investigation, agents developed information pointing to Burnette as the individual responsible for Joyner’s death, the release states.
