University of Georgia associate athletic director Arthur Johnson, who oversaw facilities, scheduling, human resources and event management, has been hired in a similar capacity by the University of Texas.
Johnson was an assistant athletic director for football operations at Texas from 1999-2005.
“We’re really lucky to be bringing Arthur back to Texas, especially at a time when we need someone to come in and hit the ground running,” Longhorns football coach Mack Brown said. “With so much going on from new coaches coming in, players returning to campus and signing day just around the corner, it’s critical to have someone in place to coordinate everything.
“Arthur has done all of that for us, and more importantly, we know and trust him.”
Johnson is a 1992 graduate of Georgia and was a roommate of former Bulldogs athletic director Damon Evans, who was forced to resign last summer following a DUI arrest. Johnson is the first senior member who worked under Evans to leave.
“After having such a great experience at Texas the first time, the opportunity to return and help Coach Brown get everything back on track was something I just couldn’t pass up,” Johnson said.
