They’ve been committed to their respective SEC programs since last summer but with national signing day less than two weeks away Calhoun High School’s Nash Nance and Da’Rick Rogers have decided to explore every option. After an in-home visit by University of Tennessee assistant Jim Chaney earlier this week Nance, Rogers and their parents will officially visit the UT campus this weekend.
Nance, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound Vanderbilt commitment, threw for 3,000 yards and 28 touchdowns and has other offers from Mississippi State and Louisville. UT offered several weeks ago and Chaney’s visit was to make it clear that the offer still stood despite the coaching change, as well as to secure the visit so that new coach Derek Dooley can talk with both players.
“I just want to go up there to look, meet Coach Dooley and their staff and find out more about where their program is headed,” Nance said. “I want to look closer at their quarterback situation and meet some of their players, too. Coach Chaney is obviously a very smart guy who knows a lot about offense and my position and he told me their offense would definitely fit me.
“No matter where I go, nobody is going to outwork me. That’s just who I am. I’m going to compete wherever I go.”
Da’Rick Rogers (6-3, 215) is the nation’s second-highest rated receiver prospect, and recently moved up to the No. 9 overall prospect according to Rivals.com. The Georgia commitment has not taken any other official visits and Tennessee is the only program to have offered both players. Rogers moved in with the Nance family last year and although both players admitted they would like to signed with the same team, they made it clear that is not a necessity.
