Keep opinion pages’ balance

I feel the current folks at the CTFP did a great job given the size of this paper. I hate to see any one of them let go.

Those soon in charge must recognize that differences of opinion are expected, accepted and healthy. In my opinion, the CTFP already leans a bit more left than it should, given the political makeup of the cities’ citizens and historical voting record. Hopefully the new ownership will ensure that a proper balance of conservative and liberal views are presented to their subscribers when it comes to the local editors’ opinions, syndicated columnist selections, and letters from writers. Thank you.

Paper still needs some changes

Day three and the paper gets worse and worse. Every section is half its size. You should have fired Bennett and Sessoms, they’re both morons. After 20+ years I doubt I will renew unless there is significant improvement or price reduction.

TFP speaks the truth in darkness

The Chattanooga Times Free Press is mandated by law to print the truth, unlike social media. The truth by its nature is liberal because it is freedom of the press that demigods like Trump hate. Opinion is unsubstantiated propaganda. This newspaper does an excellent job of representing all the people.

Dictator wannabes like Trump and his sycophants hate freedom of the press. Evil hates daylight.

Reader misses parts of paper

I’m getting half the news, so will my subscription cost be cut in half? It’s not just that the national news is missing, but that most of the paper is filled with “Region.” I want Chattanooga and Tennessee. I want to know what’s going on in the world too. I may have to find another news source. I’m sad.

Keep the “equal debate energy”

With respect to the paper, I appreciate the range of debate both nationally and locally. It is great that we have a broad range of coverage and opinions from both the left and the right (hard to find opinions in the middle these days). I enjoy the Chattanooga Times Free Press and reading both sides of the editorial section. With new ownership, it was encouraging to read that the new owners what to retain that aspect of the paper.

BUT, the intensity of the debate seemed rather one-sided. The Times, which represents the left, expressed its point of view more frequently and especially more vehemently than the Free Press represented the right. The Times was pretty consistent on its intense criticism of the right.

The Free Press seemed not as passionate in expressing a point of view on what was happening on the left. This creates a subliminal, if not obvious, bias by the paper, a disservice to the entire community.

Net, I like a hardy debate. I applaud the paper for trying and keeping this intact. Please keep working on it though to truly serve and well represent the voices across the spectrum.
