Comcast rebrands as Xfinity

Chattanooga’s biggest cable provider is taking on a new name, at least for its brand.

Comcast Corp., is launching a rebranding campaign this weekend, attaching the name Xfinity to its cable TV, Internet and phone products. The brand, unveiled during television advertisements Friday night in the Winter Olympics, is initially targeted at 11 markets where its digital conversion is complete, including Chattanooga.

Along with the new brand, Comcast also is planning to add five more high-definition channels in Chattanooga to bring the total number of HD channels to 96, Comcast’s Chattanooga public affairs manager Laurie Shipley said.

“We’re not changing our name, but consumers will see the Xfinity brand on our products, bills and promotions in the future,” she said.

The brand will feature Xfinity TV, Xfinity Voice, and Xfinity Internet, and is designed to convey the seemingly infinite possibilities for Comcast’s telecommunications services.
