Treat guns like cars; license them

In the March 1 Free Press editorial, it is stated, “On the whole, we think it’s a ridiculous decision for any company to make retribution against an organization that had no role whatsoever in the shooting.” Seriously?

The NRA has blood on its hands from every mass gun killing, because it owns enough members of Congress to block adoption of any sort of meaningful gun safety regulations. The organization has convinced gun owners that even the loosest restrictions mean liberals want to confiscate their guns.

The NRA’s work has normalized the ownership of weapons by virtually anyone, regardless of age, temperament, skill level or maturity.

We liberals don’t want to take your guns; we want to see them treated as the dangerous weapons they are. Cars can kill people when misused, so we require them to be registered and insured, and we limit their use to people who are old enough, and licensed. Guns should have similar requirements.
