Two arrested in Jan. 10 home invasion

Hamilton County sheriff’s deputies have arrested two Cleveland, Tenn., men in connection with a Jan. 10 home invasion in Ooltewah, a spokeswoman said today.

Timothy J. Harris, 22, and Cuong K. Mang, 20, both of Cleveland, each are charged with aggravated burglary, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, theft over $1,000 and attempted aggravated burglary, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson said.

Both men were taken to the Hamilton County Jail for processing, she said in a news release.

Mr. Mang was out on bond in Bradley County on a charge of sale and delivery of schedule II narcotics, authorities there said.

The incident at 8420 Troubadour Way was reported to the sheriff’s office in the early morning hours of Jan. 10, when the victims told deputies two males broke the front door of the residence to gain entry.

The dwelling was occupied by two females who secured themselves in a downstairs room after the invaders entered the home, deputies were told. While the men were moving around in the upstairs area of the house, the victims fled to safety through a garage door.

A neighbor saw two males running from the home and advised deputies they appeared to have a shotgun in their possession.

Investigators received information from the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office with the possible identification of two men. Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office investigators worked with Bradley County detective to develop leads resulting in interviews with both parties.

During the interviews it was found that along with the first reported home invasion, the men also tried to burglarize the same residence again on Wednesday.

Bradley Sheriff Tim Gobble commended both agencies for their cooperation and intensive investigation, spokesman Bob Gault said.
