Think local to make Chattanooga strong
Let’s really make Chattanooga Strong!
First, stop buying all the flags and balloons and putting them at the memorials for the slain servicemen. That just makes the Chinese economy stronger. You do know that China is the main country trying to hack into our military and other computer sites. So perhaps you should stop supporting them.
Instead, if you want to make Chattanooga strong: mentor a child, buy local produce and goods, support local artists, support CNE in getting families out of dangerous and substandard housing, cheer on our CFC soccer team. … There is no limit to what Chattanooga could be if the people of Chattanooga would band together. We could make Chattanooga truly strong.

Truck driver should have been in custody
I don’t know who had jurisdiction, but I cannot believe the truck driver involved in the deadly June 25 crash on I-75 was not arrested on the spot. He might as well have had a gun and shot the people he killed.
Did authorities not think he would disappear? Somebody should be held accountable for this failure!

Sabbath, marriage being destroyed
Religious liberty is much in the news, and being afflicted with octogenerianism, I am amazed at how fast it’s being lost. Two institutions came from the Garden of Eden: the marriage of Adam and Eve and the birthday of the world, the Sabbath.
The wicked one has all but destroyed both.
To many, Eden never happened, marriage is meaningless, to be avoided and/or perverted, and the Sabbath has almost disappeared, along with Bible study and true worship.
Long ago, Constantine appeased his sun worshipers with the “venerable day of the sun,” and the papacy adopted it as its sign of authority.
In September, I expect Congress and the U.N. will be urged to legislate Sunday observance. First as a “family day” and then as a day of worship, with increasingly severe penalties.
Prophecy indicates that chaos and carnage will only worsen, eventuating in persecution of the few who remain loyal and obedient to God. This may precipitate, or be part of, Daniel’s time of trouble.

Reader appreciates article, Goodwill
Thank you for your excellent article titled “Goodwill ‘Helps’ Distribute Medical Supplies” on July 15.
The HELPS program truly connects people in need with gently used and functional equipment from wheelchairs to shower benches to CPAP machines – at no charge.
We are fortunate to have a very forward-thinking Goodwill CEO in Dennis Brice for the outstanding leadership he and his staff provide and the many services available through Goodwill and other local nonprofit agencies.
Again, thank you for the article, and to your many readers, please donate any gently used medical equipment in a closet, attic or basement to Chattanooga Goodwill Industries. Someone can use it, and you will make a difference in their life.
