Hundreds of hands-on back-to-nature and survival workshops will be offered next week as part of the 25th annual Rivercane Rendezvous in LaFayette, Ga.

Topics during the eight days (Sunday through April 25) include friction fire-making, fiber arts and knots, edible and medicinal plants, tanning, tracking/stalking, traps and snares, primitive fishing, shell and wood carving, soap making and felting. Green components include organic gardening, sustainable farming, composting, veggie oil conversions for diesel, and solar and alternative power.

Presented by the nonprofit Earthskills Rendezvous Inc., the event “nurtures regenerative human/environment relationships and integrates ancient and modern sustainable lifeways,” according to a news release.

Per-day registration costs $65 for adults, $50 for youths ages 13-17, $30 for children 6-12. The cost includes two meals per day, workshops and instruction, materials, showers, toilets, camping fee, water and evening entertainment. A week’s registration is offered at a discount of $315 for adults, $225 for youths and $135 for children. A guest day pass is $10. Group and family discounts are available.
