SIGNAL MOUNTAIN: Remember the heroes on Monday

Remember Memorial Day as you pull on your bathing suit and fire up this grill this weekend. President Abraham Lincoln said, “Any nation that does not honor its heroes will not long endure.” On Monday, let us all take the time to remember and recollect those who have given their lives for our freedom.

Lone Oak Community Center monthly country breakfast is scheduled for this Saturday, May 29, from 7:30-10 a.m. The menu includes scrambled eggs, cooked apples, fried potatoes, grits, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, all for a $6 donation. A great way to start your Memorial Day weekend.

To support the Lone Oak Free Library, there will be an Iris Bulb sale during this month’s breakfast on Saturday. There will be up to 10 varieties of rhizomes available priced from 50 cents to $2 each. Proceeds will be used to purchase books.

Plan to kick off the summer with live music, dancing, a silent auction, wine and plenty of good food from many of Chattanooga’s finest restaurants in Renaissance Park. Bella Sera – “An evening in the park” – will be Saturday, June 5, from 6-10 p.m. to benefit Chattanooga Endeavors. For more information on this fun event, visit www.BellaSeraEvent.com or www.ChattanoogaAndBeyond.com and type in “Bella Sera.”
