Strange events are brewing beneath Lookout Mountain, and no one is exactly sure what’s happening. For now, all that’s known is that the residents of Hannibal Hill have been quarantined and put under martial law following the emergence of the Cerebrus virus, said to eradicate brain tissue.
IF YOU GO* What: Haunted Cavern.* When: Saturday-Oct. 31 (schedule varies).* Where: Ruby Falls, 1720 S. Scenic Highway.* Admission: $20 online, $22 at the door.* Phone: 821-2544.* Website: www.hauntedcavern.com.
More answers are expected Saturday night as Ruby Falls opens its Haunted Cavern. However, visitors should be forewarned that four classifications of victims will be lurking: Infectids, Carrions, Scourges and Sliders. The Sliders, a mix of the other three levels, are considered the most deadly, as they have “some logical brain capacity, yet they disregard life and any physical pain,” according to the Haunted Cavern’s resident physician, Dr. G. Wenzel.
Visitors to the Haunted Cavern should note that flashlights, cell phones, open flames and loud noises (such as screams) will draw the infected. And the stakes are high, according to the management.
“If someone in your group is bitten or possibly infected,” said a statement, “our Cerebrus agents will be happy to assist you with [their] disposal.”
The Haunted Cavern will open at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 16 (except tonight), then Thursday through Sunday until Halloween.
