No star sightings on stormy day

Has British-born actor Robert Pattinson left the South and its 100 degree heat for good?

Although Pattinson, a star in the “Twilight” vampire movies, was nowhere to be found on a stormy Saturday, rumors still are circulating on whether crews and stars will be shooting more scenes for the movie “Water for Elephants” at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum this week.

Museum employees said they did not know anything about the museum being part of the set; however one employee did say the trains would not be running if the crew was on site.

And, according to the museum’s website, answering machine and one employee, the museum will be closed to the public all day Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon.

Still, the only people to brave the storms Saturday afternoon were the ones who were sincerely interested in the Tennessee Valley Railroad. There were no “Twihards,” a name given to the diehard fans of “Twilight,” in sight.

Still, museum employees said they did not know the reason for closing on those two days.

Filming for the movie took place last week at a Walker County, Ga., home with throngs of “Team Edward” – the character Pattinson played in the “Twilight” saga – fans waiting nearby.

Carol Cross, owner of the house, said people approached her husband while he was spreading fertilizer on the yard one morning and asked if they could study the house as a potential film site.

“This was probably the experience of a lifetime,” Cross said.

The house was built in the 1880s and was occupied until 1998 when Cross and her husband bought it. Today, the house has no electricity or running water, Cross said.
