Lawsuits vs. ObamaCare

With the Democrat majority in Congress having enacted a trillion-dollar-plus ObamaCare “health reform” over strong Republican opposition, many states have realized their people may be hit by heavy financial obligations dictated by the new law, in addition to the huge red-ink federal tax burden.

So 13 states — other states may join — have decided to sue in an attempt to invalidate ObamaCare.

The objecting states claim, for example, that the ObamaCare law is unconstitutional because it would fine some people for “not doing something” — if they didn’t buy personal health insurance.

“The Constitution nowhere authorizes the United States to mandate, either directly or under threat of penalty, that all citizens and legal residents have qualifying health care coverage,” the lawsuit challenge contends.

That’s right, of course. But don’t hold your breath expecting the challenge to prevail.
