Weekend heat stress warning for Middle Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The National Weather Service in Nashville is warning that anyone outdoors this weekend in Middle Tennessee should be prepared for heat stress.

Thousands of people are attending the CMA Music Festival in Nashville and the Bonnaroo music festival near Manchester.

The weather service says weekend highs are predicted for the low to mid-90s. Humidity will be high, making it feel even more uncomfortable. The heat index is forecast to push near 100.

The weather service, in a special statement Wednesday, urged anyone outdoors to drink plenty of nonalcoholic fluids, wear lightweight and light-colored clothing and take frequent breaks in the shade.
