Bluegrass CD release party in Dalton

A free concert Saturday night in Dalton, Ga., will introduce the latest CD to benefit the work of the Dalton Organization of Churches United for People.

Earl Brackin and Lou Wamp with Bluetastic Fangrass will perform. The two acts are among 22 regional artists who’ve donated tracks to “Bluegrass Bands & Helping Hands, Volume Two: Through the Eyes of a Child.”

Also featured on the disc are singer/songwriter Louisa Branscomb, whose bluegrass standard “Steel Rails” was featured on a Grammy-winning album by Alison Krauss; Jeanette Williams, who shared a Recorded Event of the Year award from the International Bluegrass Music Association for her work with the Daughters of Bluegrass; and Janet McGarry, a five-time Female Vocalist of the Year for the Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Association.

The CD will be available for purchase for $15. Proceeds go to DOC-UP, a nonprofit that helps families with rent and utility assistance in Dalton and Whitfield County.

Concessions will be available.
