Mountain Fellowship moves to Bachman

Mountain Fellowship has a new home at Bachman Community Center.

The group, which is an offshoot of North Shore Fellowship based in North Chattanooga, formerly held its services at the MACC. The group let its lease run out because of space limitations, said Lane Ford, business administrator for North Shore Fellowship.

“We were taking up a lot of closet space for our sound equipment,” he said. “We couldn’t alleviate that problem.”

North Shore Fellowship began holding services at the MACC under the name Mountain Fellowship in September 2011. The church regularly has around 120 in attendance, and it held its first worship service at Bachman in mid-January of this year.

Sunday school is held at 4:30 p.m. followed by a worship service at 5:30 p.m.

“Our hope is to, No. 1, preach and teach the Bible well,” Ford said. “We want them to have a relationship with God and people in their community. We try to create a loving community, and anchoring all that is a relationship with Christ.”

He said the move to Bachman has been a good one for Mountain Fellowship because of the space availability as well as the facility’s location closer to the Sequatchie County line.

“We feel like there’s more need for our church presence there as opposed to the front of the mountain, where there are a lot of established churches,” said Ford.

He noted that there is no change in strategy or direction of the church – it is simply in a new location.

Everywhere North Shore Fellowship goes, members make improvements to the buildings they use. At Bachman, volunteers from the congregation cleaned and painted the auditorium and shared the costs of the refurbishment with Bachman, said Bachman Executive Director Dawn Salyer.
