A man walking on railroad tracks near Calhoun, Tenn., has found a person’s remains, according to a news release.
McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy said the remains were in an advanced state of decomposition, making it difficult to determine sex, race, age, and cause of death.
“Those determinations will require more investigation,” Sheriff Guy said.
The remains appear to have been in place for some time, he said, and cannot be tied to any recent missing person reports.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the case, he said.
