TOCCOA, Ga. – A funeral service is scheduled in north Georgia for former state Sen. Nancy Schaefer and her husband, with current members of the Legislature planning to attend.
The service will be held Wednesday afternoon in Toccoa.
The 73-year-old Schaefer, the Republican candidate for lieutenant governor of Georgia in 1994, was shot to death last week by her husband, Bruce Schaefer, who then killed himself.
Nancy Schaefer represented a northeast Georgia district in the state Senate and served two terms.
