Second auction set for local Alstom site
The Branford Group will hold a three-day online auction for GE Power’s former Alstom boiler plant in Chattanooga.
The auction, featuring over 1,500 lots of state-of-the-art equipment, will open Monday, March 6, at 8 a.m. with day one closing Tuesday, March 7. Day two will close on Wednesday, March 8, at 10 a.m. Day three will close Thursday, March 9, at 10 a.m., according to Branford Group.
James Gardner, Branford Group partner, said the auction will feature lots from three different GE Power locations, including facilities in Chattanooga and another in Denver. The assets will include a large offering of late model metalworking, fabricating and facility support and related assets.
A little more than a year ago, GE bought Alstom’s power operations and later announced it was closing the steam turbine manufacturing plant and two other adjacent facilities in Chattanooga, eliminating nearly 235 jobs through year’s end.
