Welcome to November on this initial day. Your first order of business came from A. E., who saw a dish in a magazine “without recipe or instructions. It looked like the leaves of Brussels sprouts, small pearl onions and a little red sauce that looked like thin cranberry sauce. It was so pretty that it looked like it would be a great one for Thanksgiving or Christmas.” And remember, now that Ms. E. has broached the subject, that we are eagerly hoping you will send a favorite holiday recipe, either recipes for a meal or appetizers. For that matter, for drinks as well.

Carol McKee is looking for a holiday recipe.

“I had the recipe for chicken and dressing which I got from the holiday edition of the paper. It was from a lady in Soddy Daisy and she said to use a lot of broth. I served this recipe for several years and I was looking for it this year and could not find it.” Surely one of you can find it for Ms. Mc.

We have a column full of recipes today from two correspondents; the first one is Margaret McNeil, who writes about good food at margaretsmorsels.blogspot.com. She sent an easy crockpot chicken as well and another dish that calls for a Dutch oven – the same kind of slow cooking that makes for comforting aromas and eating.
