More bond asked in rape

Hamilton County prosecutors are asking Criminal Court Judge Barry Steelman to revoke or increase the $60,000 bond of a man charged with raping an 11-year-old boy while the man was out on that bond that had been set in a previous rape case.

“The bond in the child rape case is set at $500,000, and we want the bond in the first case raised to $500,000, too,” said Neal Pinkston, executive assistant district attorney.

The first case was brought in February after a 40-year-old woman told police she had been raped by a man she knew as “Man” after he jumped her as she walked home from a store on Tunnel Boulevard.

The child rape allegation surfaced about two weeks ago after a boy told his father a man he knows as “Man” came into his room when he was sleeping and raped him.

A nurse testified this week in a preliminary hearing that the child’s injuries were consistent with a rape.
