Electricity and natural gas customers of Dalton Utilities will pay an extra $3 a month for each service next year under a proposed 2011 budget outlined today.
Dalton Utilities President Don Cope told the board for the city-owned utility that he is proposing no increase in marginal energy prices next year beyond the $3 base fee increase. Cope said the utility pared capital and operating expenses to hold the line on most rates “recognizing the economic challenges our customers are facing” in the Dalton area.
Water rates charged by Dalton Utilities would go up $1 a month per customer, while Optilink rates for telecommunication services would be unchanged under the proposed spending plan for next year.
The Dalton Utilities board will vote on the proposed budget and rates at the panel’s next meeting Nov. 15.
