WASHINGTON (AP) – Hillary Rodham Clinton says income inequality and wage stagnation are problems that go hand-in-hand and the nation needs to find creative solutions to improve job opportunities and living conditions in America’s cities.
Clinton says at an event Monday sponsored by the Center for American Progress that many people are moving back into cities and the country’s policies need to be updated “in a way that lifts everybody up.”
The likely Democratic presidential candidate says many cities are divided along economic lines and the country needs partnerships between the private and public sectors to improve social mobility.
Clinton spoke at a roundtable discussion on America’s urban areas that included Housing Secretary Julian Castro and the leaders of a public workers’ union and teachers’ union.
