A stabbing Tuesday afternoon stemmed from a dispute over money, Hamilton County Court records show.

Police were called to the 3600 block of 3rd Avenue at around 4:22 p.m. and found a 22-year-old man with a life-threatening stab wound to the chest. The man was immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Over the course of the investigation, police learned the stabbing took place in the 1900 block of East 34th Street.

A witness told investigators that he and the victim had driven to the home of 34-year-old Bryon Bosworth to retrieve some money owed to the victim.

Upon arriving, Bosworth came out of his house yelling, the witness told police. The witness tried to de-escalate the situation, but Bosworth then yelled, “I got your money right here” and stabbed the victim in the chest with a silver handle knife.

The witness told police he quickly got the victim in the car and left the scene.

Bosworth was taken into custody and questioned regarding the incident. He told police that he and the victim had fought earlier in the day and the man tried to run him over with his car.

The victim later returned, which is when the dispute continued. Bosworth admitted to stabbing the man in the chest and said he didn’t see any weapons before stabbing him.

Bosworth’s was then charged with attempted first-degree murder. He is currently at the Hamilton County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
