The Humane Educational Society, 212 N. Highland Park Ave., is hoping for gifts of time during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Volunteers who can help with cleaning and feeding at the shelter this Thursday, Friday and Saturday and on Jan. 1 will enable the animal caretakers to get home earlier. Hours needed are 8 a.m. to about 2 p.m., though more bodies will make the work go faster. To volunteer, call 624-5302, ext. 228.
