More than 120 vocalists and instrumentalists will donate their time and talent Saturday to participate in the first Day of Collaborative Music, a new event that organizers believe is the biggest, single-day presentation of free music performances to be held in this city.
Chattanooga Music Teachers Association is sponsoring Day of Collaborative Music as part of an international day of music promoted by the Music Teachers National Association.
Thirty-three performances have been scheduled between Hunter Museum of American Art, Northgate Mall and Hamilton Place.
Sigrid Luther is event coordinator. She said the purpose of Day of Collaborative Music is to raise awareness of the many types of talent in this area as well as encourage group music-making.
Saturday’s performances will feature the talent of students in private instruction, high school and college students and longtime professional musicians.
