Chattanooga police are investigating a beating and robbery on South Willow Street, according to a news release.
A possible shooting was reported about 4 p.m. at 1511 Willow St., police spokeswoman Jerri Weary said in the release. That was the wrong address, Weary said, but soon the officers arrived at 1511 South Willow St. and found Napoleon Hernandez, who had a broken nose and multiple cuts and abrasions.
Hernandez told police that two black males came up to him and demanded money. When he said he didn’t have any, they began beating him, then took $40 and his cell phone and fled.
Weary said the officers found Hernandez’s cell phone in the front yard. They had difficulty understanding him well enough to get a good description of the robbers, but he did say they were wearing brown and black clothing, Weary said.
The investigation is continuing.
