CLEVELAND, Tenn. – One of the five candidates to become the next director of Cleveland City Schools dropped out of consideration Monday.
Dr. Nancy S. Zambito withdrew her name.
Cleveland school board Chairman Peggy Pesterfield said the weeklong schedule of interviews will continue as scheduled with the four remaining candidates.
“We will go ahead with the four,” Pesterfield said.
The Tennessee School Boards Association selected five candidates from nearly two dozen applicants. The city school board has scheduled a full day for each candidate this week including community tours, meetings with local business and government leaders and school personnel and an interview with the board.
Zambito was scheduled for Wednesday. Pesterfield said Wednesday is now an open date.
Zambito is superintendent of Jackson-Madison County Schools in Jackson, Tenn.
