Some of the so-called “evidence” for catastrophic, man-caused “global warming” has unraveled with recent revelations that some who support that theory “cooked the books” or included distorted data in various reports on the subject.
Now comes more proof that the science of “global warming” is not “settled,” nor is the debate “over.”
“Britain’s premier scientific institution is being forced to review its statements on climate change after a rebellion by members who question mankind’s contribution to rising temperatures,” The Times newspaper of London reported.
A panel at the Royal Society will rewrite that organization’s official stance on climate change. That decision comes after dozens of scientists affiliated with the institution said it was overstating claims that man is responsible for warming — and suppressing legitimate opposition.
“Any public perception that science is somehow fully settled is wholly incorrect — there is always room for new observations, theories, measurements,” the organization said in a statement. (Previously, its leader had declared, “The debate on climate change is over.”)
“I think the Royal Society should be more neutral and welcome credible contributions from both skeptics and alarmists alike,” Sir Alan Rudge, a fellow with the institution, told The Times. “There is a lot of science to be done before we can be certain about climate change and before we impose upon ourselves the huge economic burden of cutting emissions.”
That’s equally sound advice for U.S. politicians who want to impose costly anti-global-warming schemes on this nation.
