Take a hard look at WWTA performance

About the Dec. 11 Mahan Gap zoning meeting:

After attending the four-hour meeting on the proposed sewer treatment plant, it became very clear that Hamilton County has a large problem.

County Commissioner David Sharpe said that every tax dollar is important and needs to be spent wisely. I agree. Then why does the county put up with the incompetence of the WWTA? How many spills and cleanups must the taxpayers pay for? Hundreds or thousands?

How many violations must taxpayers pick up for WWTA’s inability to manage?

How many penalties must we pay for its short-sightedness?

How much equipment must we buy for WWTA because of its inability to estimate needs?

Build a chemical plant in an urban location – what does this say to prospective homebuyers? Maybe coal mining on White Oak Mountain, a dump next to Cameron Harbor or a shooting range by a school will be approved next.

The future of Ooltewah is in your hands, commissioners.

If every tax dollar counts, fire the WWTA board and get some competent people to save us money.

Please remember WWTA performance is a reflection of your governance.

Fish, finances at risk if lakes are overfished

I read with much interest your recent excellent articles on tournament fishing. However, I think the most important issue may have been overlooked.

Catch rates are on the decline. Very soon there may be no fish to catch. Let us take a lesson from the bison, red wolves and the beaver. Bass boats costing $80,000 and financed for 20 years? Some banks may wind up owning a lot of boats.

Dems just cannot get over Trump win

With jobs increasing to record levels, businesses booming everywhere, unemployment at record lows and general economic outlooks unbelievably bright, why do liberals still hate Donald Trump? The answer lies within the confines of Washington, D.C.’s innermost liberal Trump-hating armies. These include media elites such as ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, The New York Times, The Washington Post, etc. Also included are RINO Trump-haters such as Jeff Flake, Mia Love and our own turncoat, Bob Corker. But Fox News continues to be fair and balanced, with liberals such as Shepherd Smith, Geraldo Rivera, Juan Williams, etc., offsetting conservative reporters.

Democrats would do absolutely anything to get rid of Trump; they hate him more than they hate terrorists. Astonishingly, they would help in the ruination of this country if it meant his downfall because he had the nerve to beat their darling, Hillary Rodham Clinton, whose coronation was assured by the DNC long ago.

They need to accept the results of the 2016 election, and realize that his re-election is highly likely in 2020 because the majority of voters in this country agree with his views – regardless of how he presents them.
