It’s the TSSAA playoffs, but Notre Dame senior Kathryn Healy said she and her teammates are still learning about their team.

They learned again Wednesday that they can be a good soccer squad.

The Lady Irish trounced DeKalb County 10-0 on Wednesday in a Region 4-A/AA semifinal at Notre Dame.

“It’s a game where we all came in and had things to work on,” Healy said. “It was a learning experience.”

Notre Dame (7-7-3) advances to the region final today at 7 p.m. EDT at Livingston Academy, which beat Chattanooga Christian 1-0 on Wednesday.

“I wish we were playing at home,” Notre Dame coach Jim Schermerhorn said. “Tonight was do-or-die and we didn’t know what to expect. It was good to score early and get some of our players a rest in the second half.”

The Notre Dame starters earned a spot on the bench and a chance to relax. The Lady Irissh led 3-0 less than 15 minutes into the game, and Healy had four first-half goals, which led to a 7-0 lead at the break. Lexie Pierce and Erin Freeman also had two scores each.

“We came out slow and didn’t play very aggressive,” DeKalb coach Dylan Kleparek said. “They beat us to the ball and were able to maintain possession.”

* Livingston Academy 1, Chattanooga Christian 0: At Livingston, it didn’t matter that the Lady Chargers had 18 shots to Livingston Academy’s 6, the only one that went in was Kat Nigro’s five minutes into the second half. CCS ends its season 10-9-2.

* Soddy-Daisy 4, Warren County 0: In a Region 3AAA semifinal at Soddy-Daisy, Summer Lanter scored two goals and assisted another and Hannah Wyatt added a goal and an assist. Natalie Smith scored the other goal, Ally Fien contributed an assist and Haley Myers was in goal for Soddy-Daisy.

* Cleveland 1, Cookeville 1 (Cleveland 4-2 penalty kicks): The Lady Raiders went 4-for-4 in penalty kicks to advance to the Region 3-AAA final against Soddy-Daisy tonight at 7.

McKenzie Harris had a first-half goal for the Lady Raiders and added a score in the shootout. Katelyn McChesney, Kaitlyn Poulakis and Jenna Stewart also had penalty-kick goals.
