Name-calling goes two ways

Todd Gardenhire’s recent name-calling outburst toward one of his constituents showed immaturity, shallowness and arrogance, yet I would never call Todd shallow, immature or arrogant. His lack of compassion for the 285,000 Tennesseans deserving quality health care is callous, mean-spirited and shortsighted, yet I would never call Todd these things. It is shameful a man elected to represent the people of Tennessee would fear the wrath of out-of-state money, like the Koch brothers supporting Americans For Prosperity-Tennessee or the NRA, but I would never call Todd a coward. You see, Todd, an adult, could think all of these things about another individual but never speak them in public because that would be very immature and arrogant, wouldn’t it?

Award for ousting Catanzaro? Shame!

It’s a sad day in Chattanooga and Tennessee when reporter Kevin Hardy and the TFP receive first place in journalism for destroying Dr. Jim Catanzaro, former president of Chattanooga State. The TFP tried to destroy Dr. Stephen D. Livesay, president of Bryan College, but as we say in Soddy-Daisy, that dog will not hunt. Aren’t you proud? It will be a very sad day when the TFP finally gets the UAW into the Chattanooga VW plant. Gov. Bill Haslam and Sen. Bob Corker have warned us about the UAW. Adolph Ochs would be proud.

TFP should recognize, write about Easter meaning

I was very disappointed this morning, Sunday morning, when all I saw concerning Easter was a basket of colored eggs. Why have you stopped putting “He arose” or “He is risen”? Easter is one of the most important holy days of the year. On Christmas, your front page had a large picture, saying Merry Christmas, and throughout the paper, there were articles. You wrote about feeding the hungry on Thanksgiving and Christmas, but not one single word about what Easter is about. What has happened to your paper that you didn’t honor Jesus Christ as the risen savior? We deserve our most important days to be acknowledged.
