Regional punk bands to hold tornado benefit

Local and regional punk bands will gather Saturday at Ziggy’s, 607 Cherokee Blvd., for a concert to benefit victims of the April 27 tornadoes. The event is intended to help those still trying to recuperate from the damage, according to organizers.

The eight bands scheduled to perform represent much of the geographic area affected by the storms. In the lineup are Dead to Society (Durham, N.C.), The Vivs! (Chattanooga), Dirty Works (Knoxville), The Mackeys (Chattanooga), The Commonwealth of American Natives (Nashville), Nosecone Prophets (Summerville, Ga.), Hill Street Hooligans (Chattanooga) and The Pox (Rome, Ga.).

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and the first band is scheduled to play at 6 p.m.

Admission is free. Donations collected will go to the United Way to aid with recovery.
