The 2010 Department of Art Senior Thesis Exhibitions at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga serve as the capstone event of the department’s fine art degree programs, said Ruth Grover, curator of UTC’s Cress Gallery.
“These exhibitions mark the point where student artist and designer move into the professional world,” she added.
With 26 students to be represented, Ms. Grover has scheduled two separate exhibits — each featuring 13 graduating seniors. Both shows illustrate the personal aesthetic of each student with an emphasis on contemporary trends in the curriculums of 3-D studio, graphic design and painting/drawing. Before the opening reception of each show, participating students will give presentations explaining their bodies of work.
Exhibition One opens Wednesday and continues through April 9. Artists presentations begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Room 356 of the Fine Arts Center. Exhibition Two is April 14-23. Artists presentations will be held at 4 p.m. April 13 in Room 356 of the Fine Arts Center.
