Learn about Islam to assess threat
Shadi Hamid’s Sept. 24 column in the Times Free Press, “Why Islam isn’t like other faiths,” requires comment.
It is correct that the Koran, Allah’s words, is considered perfect and therefore cannot be changed. That is why there cannot ever be reform in Islam. Islam is easy to learn and understand – one only needs to know the basics of Mohammed’s life story, the Sira. Mohammed was a dissident in Mecca and Medina. He professed to be Allah’s messenger and upset many people.
Islam mandates the combination of church and state and is therefore a theocracy. Islam is incompatible with America’s Constitution and social values. Therefore, “the model of the very man Muslims admire,” Mohammed, is dangerous. Islam is “unusually assertive and uncompromising.” Consider the following, Koran 3:28: Believers should not take Kafirs as friends in preference to other believers. Koran 47:4: “when you meet the unbelievers strike off their heads ” Mohammed said: “The man who dies without participating in Jihad dies the death of a hypocrite.”

Clinton is a disaster; Trump offers hope
This letter is in response to a reader’s letter that criticized Free Press editorial page editor Clint Cooper about his assessment of the demographics of Trump supporters.
The reader’s letter was a class example of an ignorant attempt to label Hillary opponents with absurd descriptions to deflect intelligent readers from her real failures. Since the Democrats have not had any successes in foreign or domestic policies in the past eight years, all you can do is call your opponent names.
The Democratic Party has tried to discredit Trump and his supporters because it has nothing to run on. The Democrats have a candidate with a record of complete failures in foreign policy, domestic policy and reality. The only hope that Democrats have is to try to label Hillary Clinton’s opposition as worse than she is, which is not possible. Trump, for all his faults, still offers the best opportunities for all Americans.
So there it is. Hillary is racist, an arm-chair misogynist and corrupt politician. She has definitely earned all of those labels. If that is what the Democrats want, go vote for her and suffer the consequences.

Presidential greats would be mortified
This election is the most important in my lifetime. Never have the stakes been higher. The entire world seems to be in turmoil.
Trump is a travesty. How can the people of the United States of America even consider a foul-mouthed, self-absorbed, policy-poor, truth-pliable man to be president?
George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, John Quincy Adams, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman are weeping.
