Many musicians in the one-man-band field find their groove and stay in it, but the groove becomes a rut after too long a period.
Scott H. Biram – aka The Dirty Old One-Man Band – is an American blues, funk, country, heavy-metal musician and record producer.
But this Texan has never fallen into a rut because he’s not one thing. His singing, yodeling, growling, leering and hollering is accompanied by riffs and licks from his ’59 Gibson guitar and a pounding backbeat produced by his amplified left foot. The remainder of this one-man band consists of an unwieldy combination of beat-up amplifiers and old microphones strung together by a tangled mess of guitar cables.
His music has been used for episodes of “Dog the Bounty Hunter,” “My Name is Earl” and “Sons of Anarchy.” You can hear him live tonight, Oct. 26, when Biram takes the stage at Songbirds Guitar Museum.
His music is thoroughly contemporary but “steeped in the backwaters, back porches and back alleys of our collective musical heritage,” according to reviews. “The Bad Testament” is the latest of his six albums.
Local favorite Overland Express will take Songbirds’ stage on Friday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. Tickets in advance are $15 and $20 day of show.
