Give thanks, Chattanoogans, that thousands of generous local givers have served thousands of us in all walks of life by bountiful giving in our annual United Way campaign!
At a United Way meeting this week, 2010 campaign Chairman Dr. Bill Stacy, former head of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Baylor School, was able triumphantly to report the biggest local annual United Way giving ever: $11,950,726!
He thanked the people of our community for their generosity.
United Way board Chairman Nick Decosimo reminded us that this is not “just a fund campaign.” It serves “people,” some in serious need now, and many who will benefit for many years to come.
It might seem a little boring to print a list of United Way-financed services. But we need to remind ourselves of their names and their varied efforts for us all. So here it is:
AIM Center, Alexian Brothers Senior Neighbors, American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, Boehm Birth Defects Center, Boy Scouts, Boys and Girls Clubs, CADAS, Catholic Charities, Center for Nonprofits, Children’s Academy for Education, Children’s Home/Chambliss Shelter, Community Partnerships, Communities in Schools-Catoosa County, Direct Services, Epilepsy Foundation, Family Crisis Center, Fortwood Center, Four Points, gifts in kind, Girls Inc., Girl Scouts, Goodwill Industries, Hospice, Invest in Children, Jewish Federation, Kids on the Block, LaFayette Empty Stocking, Little Miss Mag Child Care, Marion County grants, Maurice Kirby Day Care, North Georgia grants, Northside Neighborhood House, Ochs Center for Metropolitan Studies, Orange Grove Center, other area United Way organizations, Partnership for Families, Children and Adults, Power Share/Water Help, Primary Health Care Center, Pro Re Bona Nursery, RE:Start (formerly READ), Room in the Inn, Signal Centers, Special Transit Services, Speech & Hearing Center, TEAM Centers, The Salvation Army, Tri-State Food Pantry, 2-1-1, Urban League, Volunteer Center, Volunteer Community School, Walker County 4-H and YMCA!
Just consider all the good that these organizations do in so many ways – year-round – because of your generous giving through the United Way!
We can’t say “thank you” enough. But you understand how important these United Way agencies – and your giving – are when you consider all of the many thousands of our people who benefit.
