After beating rival McMinn County to open last season, McMinn Central coach Josh Goodin had his players surrounding him in a semi-circle. Parents started inching in around the back side of the huddle. So did the cheerleaders, as well as life-long fans of the Chargers.
Then out of nowhere, a young boy ran toward the coach and jumped. Goodin reached out to catch Gunner, his 4-year-old son.
“On top of everything else from last season, that game, and that moment was a lot of fun,” Goodin said. “Winning that game for the fist time in 26 years set us up for the rest of the season.
