The people of Iran, living on a rich pool of oil that is in tremendous world demand, certainly do not have any pressing need for nuclear electric power development. So that’s why many in the rest of the world believe the highly expensive push by Iran’s leaders to enrich uranium is aimed at creating a nuclear bomb threat, not peaceful generation of electrical power.
The Iranian people, their neighbors and the rest of the world would be far better off if Iran’s leaders ended their hostility toward their neighbors and the rest of the world. But instead, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad insists on being a threatening troublemaker, not just in the Middle East, but throughout the world.
Because Iran has put its nuclear technicians to work on centrifuges to produce more enriched uranium, President Barack Obama has threatened a “significant regime of sanctions” against Iran.
Ahmadinejad is laughing. He is moving on toward processing uranium that could possibly lead to a nuclear bomb.
If Ahmadinejad had a nuke, what would he do with it? He already has called for the destruction of Israel. Will Israel be forced to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities to avoid an Iranian effort to destroy Israel? Iran’s nuclear threat is certainly destabilizing in an already unstable part of the world.
Just think how much better the Iranians — and the rest of the world — would be if Iran had reasonable leaders seeking only what is really best for Iran.
