THE MATCHUP
The Florida State defensive line outweighs the Mocs by 10 pounds on average, and the Seminoles have the ability to penetrate opposing backfields with just their front four. It will be up to the UTC offensive line to have a good showing, because stopping the Seminoles’ pressure will lend opportunities to get yards in the rushing game and set up opportunities to pass.
ONE TO WATCH
Florida State running back Dalvin Cook is in the discussion for the Doak Walker Award, given to the nation’s best running back, and he’s also part of the Heisman Trophy conversation. He has 1,369 rushing yards and 15 total touchdowns, and obviously he will be tough for the Mocs to defend.
IN THE END
Although they definitely want to be competitive and execute whatever is called, the primary goal for the Mocs today is to make sure everybody is healthy Sunday morning. Winning today would be nice, but winning games over the next two months – in the FCS playoffs – is far more important.
