Baylor School has named Jim Kennedy as the new director of admission and enrollment, overseeing recruitment of the school’s boarding and day programs for grades sixth through 12th, a news release stated.

“Jim brings the personal and professional skills necessary to manage a 21st century admission office,” Headmaster Scott Wilson said in the news release.

“He is a strategic thinker and planner, and he is a wonderful communicator,” Wilson said. “Professionally, I am truly excited about working with Jim to promote Baylor’s best interests in the years to come.”

Since 2001, Kennedy has served as president of Kennedy, Coulter, Rushing and Watson, a strategic planning consulting firm, according to the news release.

Before that, he served as chief executive officer of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce and president of the Chattanooga Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Kennedy also served as director of public relations for the RiverCity Co. and executive director of the Chattanooga Downtown Partnership. He was creative director for Miller-Reid advertising through most of the 1980s, according to the release.

He began his professional career at Baylor, teaching English and drama from 1974 to 1977, the news release stated. He also directed Baylor’s theater program, coached soccer and served as dormitory head.
