20-year-old gang member killed in Brainerd shooting

A 20-year-old man was shot to death in a vehicle overnight in Brainerd, Chattanooga police say.

Officers heard shots fired in the 5500 block of Brainerd Road around 1:45 a.m. and then saw a speeding vehicle, according to a police news release.

They followed the car to the hospital and found Kendre Allen inside, shot and dying. The driver told police the two were driving when someone in another vehicle fired shots at the car.

Investigators found a crime scene in the 300 block of Spring Creek Road, the release states, but don’t have an identity for the shooter.

Police said Allen was a validated gang member. The driver’s identity is being withheld for safety reasons, the release said.

This is an active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 423-698-2525.
