Golf tournament supports schools
Employees at the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Sequoyah Nuclear Plant raised more than $90,000 for local schools with their annual Partners in Education Golf Tournament.
Proceeds from the 14th annual event will go to Sequoyah’s four partner schools: Soddy-Daisy High School, Sequoyah High School, Loftis Middle School and Soddy-Daisy Middle School.
More than 260 players participated in the tournament, which was held May 7 at Windstone Golf Course near Ringgold, Ga.
David Steave, one of the Sequoyah employee organizers of the event, said this year’s total was more than $20,000 higher than last year’s contribution.
“We are very excited about the amount of money raised this year,” he said.
“Our schools really benefit from these funds.”
